Estate Income Tax Returns

When someone passes there are a variety of returns to consider: Date of Death / Final Return, Rights & Things Return, Estate Return. When someone passes al their assets are deemed disposed of as of that date. However somethings can’t just transfer. For example, a home. These assets may transfer to a spouse but in the case that does not happen, the home then belongs to the estate. Similarly, artwork, vehicles, bank accounts, investments, etc all may be held in the estate. Any income earned from these (or at the time of transfer to someone else – there is a deemed disposition) are taxed in the estate. A T3 Trust Return must be filed until all the assets have been disposed.

Non-Profit / Charity Information Returns

Not-for-profit organizations have different reporting requirements than regular for-profit organizations. This can include restricted and non-restricted fund accounting, special information returns for CRA and even audited financials if government funding is significant. With the sector and the unique set of accounting standards for not-for-profit organizations (ASNPO).
