NOW HIRING – SENIOR ACCOUNTANT


Start date: Flexible for the right fit


Starting Hours: Depends on if you would like full-time or part-time work


Requirements:

  • Experience in the following programs:
    • CaseWare
    • Profile, TaxPrep or Tax Cycle (preference for Profile)
    • Sage Accounting
    • QBO, Wave or other online bookkeeping software
    • Excel, Word and Adobe/PDF software
  • CPA designation OR in final year of program OR non-designated with at least 5 years related experience
  • At least 2 years experience in public practice
  • Customer service or experience with working with the public
  • Excellent work ethic
  • Ability to work in the Penticton office

Job Duties:

  • Core activities:
    • Preparation of corporate year ends under Compilation & Review Engagements (possibly Audits)
    • Trust examinations
    • Personal Taxes (including DOD)
    • Estates and T3 Trust Return
    • Bookkeeping
    • CRA audits/reviews and other communications
  • Management Activities (if applicable)
    • Review of junior and bookkeeper work
    • Management of meetings and workflow
    • Tracking of office supply inventory for re-ordering
  • Assistance with administrative duties:
    • Reception – including walk-ins, phone calls and e-mails
    • Office filing
    • Sorting of client records
    • Assisting with tax signings and forms that may be requested
    • Maintaining client tracking lists / schedules
    • Mailings
    • Preparing and binding year end and tax packages for clients
    • Preparation of letters and tax season prep assistance
  • Firm Growth
    • Assistance with marketing strategies and implementation
    • Attending networking events
  • Other
    • Light Janitorial (for COVID-19 regulations and maintaining your workspace)
    • Assistance with office organization and layout
    • Other tasks as requested

Salary/Wage: Depending on experience


Multiple Bonuses: We offer 2 bonuses a year: one after tax season and one just before Christmas. These are based off time with the firm, work contributions and profitability of the firm. We also offer new client referral bonuses for every client brought in.


Sick/Personal Days: We offer 4 paid sick/personal days a year based on full-time employment (prorated for part time).


Vacation Days: Vacation starts at 4% of your pay and goes up to 6%. You may accrue it for paid time off OR have it paid on each paycheque.

NOW HIRING – OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR/BOOKKEEPER/MARKETING ASSISTANT


Start date: Flexible for the right fit


Starting Hours: Tues - Thurs from 10:00am – 2:00pm moving to Monday – Friday 10:am-2:00pm in September. Perfect for a parent with young ones in school and saving before/afterschool; day care costs. We are flexible for pro-d days and other days where your child may be out of school.


Requirements:

  • Must be experienced in QBO (ProAdvisor level)
  • Experience with word and excel
  • Outgoing personality, positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Willingness to learn and try new tasks
  • Strong client / customer relations is a must


Assets:

  • Experience in an office environment (with preference for public practice experience)
  • Experience in other bookkeeping software: Sage/Simply, Wave, Xero, Jane App
  • Experience in tax software (with preference for profile)
  • Experience in CaseWare
  • Experience in Marketing including social media (facebook, Instagram, google ads, etc)


Job Duties:

  • Reception (in-person and phones)
  • Helping clients drop off records, fill in forms and signing documents
  • Bookkeeping for clients (QBO, Sage, Wave, Excel) – including record management
  • Training and assisting clients in QBO
  • Assisting with marketing and promotions: online, on-site and off-site
  • Management of meetings and workflow
  • Preparing and binding year end and tax packages for clients
  • Preparing packages and letters for clients and CRA
  • Receivables/collections
  • Filing, photocopying, shredding and other similar tasks
  • Light janitorial (COVD regulations)
  • Mail (taking to mailbox and sorting incoming mail)
  • Taking payments (using Square, cash, cheques)
  • Other similar tasks as required

Partnership and Other Opportunities

AUDIT PARTNER

We are currently seeking a partner to add the audit side of our practice.  Must be a CPA with at least 5 years of audit experience including at least 2 in a management role. In depth knowledge of ASPE and ASPNO is a must.   IFRS knowledge and experience in preparation and submission of RFPs are strong assets though not required.  As a partner you will be responsible for the development and growth of the department as well as the annual PD required to obtain the audit license.


ESTATES, TRUSTS & RELATED TAX PLANNING

We are currently seeking a partner to help grow the estates and tax planning side of the practice.  Must be a CPA with at least 2 years experience working with Trusts and Estates and at least 1 year in a management role.   As a partner you will be responsible for the development and growth of the department as well as the annual PD required to stay on top of the changes in the taxation world.

Jane Long-Haggerty 
 ~ Principal Owner

Jane has over 16 years experience in accounting and has been designated for almost a decade.  

She also has several years of management experience as well as teaching. 


As a life long learner and entrepreneurial spirit, Jane holds several certifications in a wide array of industries which enable her to best help clients with unique viewpoints, knowledge and skillsets that other accountants may not have.    
















Brian Haggerty  

 ~ Client Service Manager


Brian has over 26 years experience in customer/client service.  His light hearted demeaner will ensure you feel welcome and appreciated every time you are in the office.





















Emily Long 

 ~  Bookkeeping Assistant


Emily has experience in customer/client service and office administration.  She is super organized in the workplace and helps to ensure company and clients records are well maintained and ready to go! 



Caitlyn Haggerty 

 ~ Reception Assistant


Caitlyn is eager to help whenever you come in and her fun-loving smile will have you feeling happy even at tax time!  She can be a little shy, but she won't let that stop her from providing excellent assistance to clients and to the team.



Mackenzie-Linne Haggerty  

 ~ Office Assistant


Mackenzie's assertiveness helps to ensure the office runs smoothly and as the in-charge of the entertainment she will make sure any little ones you bring with you are well looked after in our kids area!















Luna 

 ~ Office Greeter


Luna is a super friendly, non-shedding gal that loves to say hi to everyone walking by or coming into the office.  She is excellent with all ages but has a special love for kids and grandmas.


Luna is not shy, but if you are that's okay too, she will quietly wait in another room.
